Happy Winter Solstice! Ritual inside.

Wow, I can’t believe we are nearing the end of 2017. What a year. My family just finished celebrating Hanukkah, we are settling into tonight Solstice Ritual around the fire and excited to celebrate Christmas in a few days. Bringing all of these traditions together makes me so happy.

The other day Marshall asked me if I’m Jewish. I told him I wasn’t but he was and I will always support him in celebrating and believing whatever he wants. I told him, “Isn’t it so great that we’re different and love each other so much? This way we get to learn from each other.” He gave me the biggest hug after that.

Tonight is one of my favorite Holidays, Winter Solstice or Yule where we celebrate the coming of the Sun as today marks the turning point to longer days. I love how Christmas also celebrates the coming of the “Son” just another representation of new life.

Yule is where we get the tradition of bringing an Evergreen Tree into our house and put lights on the branches and in our windows as our ancestors used to light candles to signify the light we see in the darkness. Evergreens are also a symbol of life and light in the dark winter months.

It always makes me chuckle when people get weird about talking about Pagan traditions or witchcraft. Um, Lady, you have a Balsam Fir in your house that you have altered with ornaments, you don’t get more pagan than that!

Here is a very simple ritual you can do tonight to honor the Solstice.

Gather with a few loved ones. You can just have your kids and partner, have some friends over or get people together on google hangout. (You can also do this solo with a journal and your higher self :).

Consider making a traditional Wassail or chicken soup for everyone to share.

Turn off all the lights and sit in the darkness for a little bit. See what comes up as you let your senses rest.

Light a candle and pass the flame to the other people.

Light a fire or central candle.

Share with the others the darkest part of your year. What has been hard. Then share the light that has been born from it. What have you learned? What is the lesson?

Then share how the other people in the room have brought more light into your life.

After this, I love to sing, share, and celebrate as you see fit in the candlelight. There’s something so magical about being only in a candle lit room. It brings us back to our roots and helps us to remember our inner stillness.

Please let me know how it goes.

My team and I will be hibernating for the next couple weeks and I won’t be reaching out again until early January.

But, I want you to have a few things on your radar for 2018.

  1. On Wednesday, January 17th from 7 pm-10 pm I’m hosting a New Moon, New Year, New You Workshop.  We’ll create sacred space for you to gain more clarity on your 2018 intentions and hold a ceremony to manifest them into reality. The first New Moon of the year is a powerful one, I hope you’ll take this time for yourself. $35 in person. $20 Livestream. Everyone who signs up will also receive a recording. You can register to attend in person here or via Livestream here.
  2. In early 2018 I’m rolling out Live More Weigh Less 2.0 with an updated membership support group and new content integrating new health systems, spiritual work and body lessons from motherhood. It’s also Live More Weigh Less’s 7th Birthday (a full spiritual cycle!) and I’m excited to bring you the 2nd edition.
  3. In February I’ll be taking time to talk about my journey as an entrepreneur in partnership with Marie Forleo’s B School, the program that gave me the strategies and inspiration to get paid for my purpose and support my family over the past 7 years. I’ll be offering my Sacred Business Circle at Hawthorn Farm to the women who decide to join B School this year.
  4. We’ll be starting Moon Lodge Yoga in January!! Wednesdays at 9:30 am. Medfield, MA. Taught by the amazing Kathryn Postulka. $15 at the door. Drop in only.
  5. We have 2 spots open for Wise Woman Winter if you want to really dive deep into the spiritual work in 2018 and emerge as the most authentic you. You can get all the details and sign up here.

I can’t wait for the incredible ways we’ll be stepping into 2018 together. In the meantime, rest, celebrate, take a bath, snuggle your loved ones, and I’ll see you on the other side.

Love,
Sarah
