The Secret to Pleasurable Weight Loss

Pleasurable-Weight-Loss-published-cover copyAlmost 6 years ago, at the beginning of my journey, I met Jena la Flamme at a party.  She floated around the room with such ease and confidence.  She glowed.  I wanted to be like that, I thought.  Although I was nervous to talk to her, we ended up at the same hors d’oeuvres tray and started talking.  She made me feel so at ease and so heard.  The next day I signed up to be her client in her Pleasurable Weight Loss program.

Jena helped me find happiness, love my body and learn how to nourish her in a way that made me glow.  Now she is bringing her genius, that only used to be available one-on-one to the masses with her new book Pleasurable Weight Loss.

I am so excited to be sharing an interview with her today on how she developed this philosophy and how you can start putting it into your lives today.

If you want to feel in love with your body and at peace with food, and you just know (as I do) that calorie counting, food points, portion control and punishing exercise is not the way, then you’ll want to download Jena’s free 7-day program: 7 DAYS OF PLEASURABLE WEIGHT LOSS: EAT WITHOUT ANGST. Jena’s new book Pleasurable Weight Loss will change your life. She helped change mine.

  • So beautiful! Thank you for sharing Jena and her book, Sara. A light bulb went off when you started talking about the ambiguity of being SEXY, especially as a mom. One of my intentions for this year is to allow myself to be SEEN, to present myself in a way that is not hiding and sexy is key. Thank you. xo

Great intention Nikki! I find that photosohoots are a great way for me to really put myself out there. I think it may be great for you too. xo

It is so fitting that you posted this today Sarah. Last night I had such a down moment. My friend is pregnant and I needed to measure her for something I was going to sew for her. And we had a good laugh at the number, and then I went home to work on it. In order to try it on and adjust, I measured my hips, and found out that my hips are the same measurement as her 3rd trimester belly, and i just had a breakdown. my husband noticed that I was really down about something, but when i explained to him how I was feeling, he kinda brushed it off as me being PMS-y, and when i argued that I wasn’t being a whiner he shut me out. ;(

so now that i’ve just written something super personal, i do truly want to lose some weight. i want to be healthier. i’ve been told by my doctor that it will help with some of the health problems i’ve been having. but i just have so much trouble with the traditional “willpower” way. I love food. i love to cook and bake, especially for other people. i love to taste and experiment. it is something i find so much joy in. and i feel like i’m going to have to give up that joy to eat bland veggies and dry chicken. and never have another cupcake again.

  • Jena (and Sarah) you are both such incredible examples of what it looks like to truly love and honor our body and her signals. I haven’t had a chance to dive into the book yet, but it’s on my schedule to start this week. Looking forward to it. Congrats on your continued success with spreading the message, Jena. Sending you both much love.

Loved the recording! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Lots to process as I start the new year!

    • Sarah Jenks

So happy to hear you enjoyed this, Diane!

As I looked at Stephanie’s comments, I want to say thank you for being brave and sharing. You are not alone. I too am struggling with weight. Part of my strength this past year has come from being honest about it. Not hiding out. And I’m trying to enjoy the “now” while exploring the healthing lifestyle I want to be my new normal. I’m also learning I need friends to support me, the healthy way. Im thankful for this site – it’s one of my encouraging places.

One other thought – I too love to bake and cook. I’m learning to explore healthier ways to cook as an outlet for that passion. And also looking at some of the reasons I love to bake and honestly, for me, it can be a way to love people. So I’m exploring other ways to show my love. Stephanie, keep taking the next step. You can do this!

    • Sarah Jenks

Diane, thank you so much for sharing this and identifying the root of your desire to bake. This is huge. xo

Thank you Diane for sharing. Sarah’s blog/email/programs are also an encouraging place for me. She really just resonates with me. I’ve been trying to transition into other ways to “share the love” too. I’ve recently started sewing more, which has been a fun hobby to make things for people that aren’t edible.
