A Midway Check-In: Holding ourselves through the process

Blog

We are halfway through this Threads of Remembrance journey together, and we want to pause for a moment.

To breathe.

To check in.

To hold space for all that might be rising within you.

The truths we’ve been weaving through Threads of Remembrance are not easy ones. They were never meant to be.

You may be feeling deep grief. A mourning for what was taken, for the ancestors who came before you, for the ways history has shaped your own life in ways you never saw before.

You may be feeling rage. A fury that burns in your chest as you see how power has been seized, how control has been disguised as progress, how we have been lied to again and again.

You may be feeling exhaustion. A part of you whispering, What does it matter? The systems are too big, the damage is too great, I don’t know where to begin.

You may even be feeling betrayed. By us. By this series. By the weight of what we are naming, by the way it disrupts what once felt steady beneath your feet.

Whatever is present in you right now, we want you to know:

You are not alone in it.

We are not here to simply stir the wound—we are here to walk through it together.

How to Hold Yourself in This Process

When we face hard truths, our nervous system reacts as though we are under threat. The body doesn’t always know the difference between a physical danger and a psychological awakening.

So if you are feeling dysregulated, here are some ways to anchor yourself:

☑ Breathe deeply and intentionally. Place your hand on your chest. Inhale for a count of four, hold for four, exhale for eight. Repeat. Let your body know it is safe to feel.

☑ Move the energy. Rage and grief live in the body. Shake your hands, stomp your feet, dance, stretch—anything that reminds you that you are here, alive, moving.

☑ Speak it out loud. If something we’ve said has hit you deeply, name it. Journal it. Tell a friend. Give your emotions somewhere to land.

☑ Remember that knowing is not the same as carrying it alone. You do not have to solve it all. You do not have to fix history. You are simply being invited to see clearly so that new choices become possible.

This is the work of remembrance, not perfection.

If You Are Feeling Betrayed by This Series

We want to name something tender.

For some of you, this series might be challenging not just in its content, but in who you thought we were and what you thought we stood for.

You may have arrived here for spiritual connection, for feminine wisdom, for sisterhood—and now we are talking about land theft, patriarchy, political control.

You might be asking: Why are we bringing this into sacred space?

Because it was never separate.

Spirituality that does not name power, history, and truth is just another form of escapism.

But spirituality that roots us deeply in the full reality of what has been stolen, erased, and weaponized is a spirituality that can change the world.

We are not here to blame. We are not here to shame. We are here to witness, to remember, and to reclaim together.

If you need to step away for a moment, we honor that.

If you need to sit with the discomfort, we honor that too.

We are still here, holding this space with love.

What Comes Next

We continue.

Not to overwhelm, but to illuminate.

Because remembrance is not just about what was lost. It is about what can be rebuilt.

And we are walking that path together.

With love,

Sarah & Kelly
