Avoid the “Christmas Blues” AKA What you should do today

Blog · Your Body · Your Self

Merry Christmas my dear!

I hope you had amazing day yesterday if you were celebrating the holiday.  And if you weren’t, I hope you enjoyed some down and quiet time.

The day after Christmas can always feel a little strange.  I always get a bit of Christmas blues and don’t quite know what to do with myself.  Does that ever happen to you?

Here are four easy, restorative and fun tips to make today awesome

restorative

1. Stay in your PJs.  You know I’m a stickler for looking cute and pulled together everyday, but today, you’re on vacation so it’s time to milk those flannel PJs.  No need to feel guilty.

2. Go for a walk outside.  Nothing feels better than fresh air after being inside for a few days.  Pull on your boots (over your PJ’s) and focus on taking some deep breaths and enjoying your surroundings.  You may want to consider going alone.  I know you’ve been super social the past few weeks.

3. Ask someone how they are, really.  There’s usually not a lot of time for a deep, one-on-one conversation with a friend or family member around the holidays, so use some of your down time today to really connect with your brother, take your Mom to coffee or call a friend who’s town and get real about what’s going on with them.

4. Cook a light, healthy dinner.  Tonight is a great night to give your digestion a break.  I’m going to be making this pumpkin soup from What Katie Ate.

In the comments below I’d love to know what else you are up today and what some of your favorite post Christmas traditions are.
