You Don’t Have To Choose Between Success & Your Soul

Happy Labor Day, Happy Moonday, and Happy Fall. I am one of those women who changes her whole life and up-leveled big time every fall — if you’re also like that, I have a story for you.

I grew up with everything. Loving parents and lots of stability. I grew up going to Church and was a great student. I went to the #1 college in the country and graduated with people who are now top lawyers, chief medical officers, and C-suite executives.

The traditional path to success was clear and laid out for me.

But my soul was very loud.

I took the path less traveled. I started listening more to my truth and less to the outside expectations of who I should be.

I left my cushy marketing job to create one of the top emotional eating online programs on the Internet.

And then one day I walked into my therapist’s home office and she had a circle of pillows on the floor, the faint smell of incense was in the air and she had paintings of beautiful goddesses on the wall.

My body erupted in goosebumps. I started to weep, even though my brain couldn’t identify why.

I remembered.

I remembered being in sacred spaces, feeling a deep connection with the other women and with the unseen world around us. I remembered feeling deeply held and incredibly seen for who I really am. I remembered the feeling of things feeling REAL.

My Soul came online.

This sparked a path that has been an incredible, wild adventure of discovering who I really am and creating the life I’m meant to live.

Today I am an ordained Priestess in the 13 Moon lineage, the same lineage as my therapist who had that circle of pillows on her floor 10 years ago and who became my mentor and teacher — Elayne Kalila Doughty. I have three incredible children and own a 23-acre Retreat Center and Temple in the next town over from where I grew up. I am here to be a sanctuary for Sacred Women in a still very Puritan New England. I make more money than my surgeon husband. I travel a lot, alone, and with my kids, and my life has an incredible frequency of wonder, wildness, and adventure.

You don’t have to choose between success and your soul.
