What are you constantly negotiating?

Blog · Your Self

Women have really normalized being in workplace environments, in communities, in families and groups of friends, even in marriages… where we don’t feel comfortable being our full selves.

We are constantly negotiating

which parts we can show

which parts are going to make people uncomfortable

which parts are going to make people feel bad about themselves

and which parts may bring forward judgment.

We withhold and we pretend.

Here’s what I want you to understand… it’s ok to be in environments like that some of the time – it’s unavoidable, but how about 5% of the time? Not 95% of the time.

What if you spend 95% of your time with people you didn’t have to try with, with people that you could just let ALL OF YOU pour out – knowing that the only thing you would be met with is love and celebration?

Yes, this means that you will have to cultivate new agreements and a new culture in your partnership. You may need new friends. And you may need a new job.

Or you will find that if you decide to go first and to be your full self, the people around you who you thought you needed to negotiate with will actually feel so relieved that they get to be themselves too.

But you won’t know until you try.

Happy Moonday, love.

It’s time to try.

Love,

Sarah

P.S. I recently announced my new year-long Sacred program – The Deepening – for women who want to create a life that is a true match for your soul. If you’re curious, all of the details are here.
